The Governor of the Central Bank of Kosova, Ahmet Ismaili and his colleagues met the Director for International Relations of the British Financial Supervisory Authority (FCA), Ruairi O’Connell.

Governor Ismaili and Deputy Governor Dardan Fusha in this meeting revealed the CBK’s plans in order to achieve the objectives and the Strategic Plan, with a focus on the new function for consumer protection and market surveillance practices in the provision of financial products and services in the country.

During this meeting, Governor Ismaili discussed the possibility of concluding a cooperation agreement in the creation of legal and technical infrastructure, advanced British methodologies and approach, in financial inclusion, consumer protection, digital financial services, crypto-assets, markets of capital and other issues. Also, it was discussed about the exchange of information from the respective markets about the entry of potential investors into the market or their performance.

Part of the discussion were the visits between the two institutions with the aim of sharing knowledge during mutual participation in focused workshops and conferences that advance the practices and standards of this field.

Mr. O’Connell expressed his readiness to address the possibility of supporting the CBK in the realization of the objectives and plans of the highest financial institution in the country, foreseen according to the constitutional and legal mandate.

In the end, Governor Ismaili expressed him the gratitude for the institution he leads for the support of Great Britain, in particular the Bank of England and the Financial Supervisory Authority for the financial system and the CBK, through support programs with technical assistance and following projects.

We recall that O’Connell served as the Ambassador of Great Britain to the Republic of Kosova from 2015 to 2019.
