The Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK), Mr. Ahmet Ismaili, held a courtesy meeting with Mr. Piero Cipollone, a member of the Executive Board of the European Central Bank (ECB), during the Spring Meetings of 2024 in Washington D.C. This meeting marked the conclusion of the CBK delegation's interactions with international stakeholders and partners.
The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange insights on various matters of mutual cooperation between the CBK and the ECB. Governor Ismaili updated Mr. Cipollone on key developments within the CBK, including advancements in preparations for SEPA integration and compliance, as well as other pressing issues facing the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo.
Additionally, the meeting facilitated discussions on exploring the potential for adoption of an instant payment solution by CBK with the objective to join TIPS, and the ongoing dialogue with neighboring countries regarding the selection of optimal solutions for the region.
Governor Ismaili emphasized the CBK's steadfast commitment to advancing and modernizing its payment system, which would pave the way for integration into the European Union financial market infrastructure, aligning with strategic objectives of the CBK.
These engagements underscored the CBK's commitment to fostering strong partnerships with key international stakeholders, furthering the institution's mission of promoting financial stability and financial inclusion, which are vital for enhancing economic development in the country.
