Financial statistics for other (non-bank) financial institutions and remittances for May 2024

According to the publication calendar, the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo has published statistics for other financial institutions for May 2024, remittances for April 2024 and preliminary ones for May 2024.

Other financial intermediaries

The assets of other financial intermediaries at the end of May 2024 reached the value of 583.67 million euros, marking an increase of 11.42 million euros. The asset structure of these institutions is dominated by loans, which constitute 66.88% of total assets. Gross loans of other financial intermediaries in May 2024 reached the value of 390.35 million euros, representing an increase of 7.12 million euros compared to the previous period. By sectors, loans to households dominate with 60.03% of the total loans of other financial intermediaries.

The value of new loans issued by other financial intermediaries in May 2024 was 41.89 million euros.

Insurance companies

The assets of insurance companies at the end of May 2024 reached the value of 318.62 million euros, representing an increase of 1.62 million euros compared to the previous month. The structure of assets in the insurance sector consists of the balance with commercial banks, which constitute 45.40%, securities and other assets 28.24% and reinsurance with participation 14.92%

Pension funds

Pension fund assets at the end of May 2024 reached the value of 2.90 billion euros. The structure of pension sector assets is dominated by equity securities, which constitute 78.14% of total assets.

Remittances in April 2024 reached the value of 113.22 million euros. Whereas, according to preliminary estimates, remittances for May 2024 were around 119.74 million euros, thus reaching the value for the first five months of 2024 at 513.99 million euros (preliminary). The largest flows during the month of May were through NBFIs 56.31%, through commercial banks 14.98% and other channels 28.71%.in April 2024 reached the value of 113.22 million euros.
