A high-level delegation of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK), headed by Governor Mr. Ahmet Ismaili is participating in the 2024 Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank (WB), which are being held in Washington D.C. of the United States of America.

The CBK high-level delegation will have meetings with senior officials of the IMF and the WB, whereby they will discuss the latest economic, fiscal and financial developments and further expectations.

In the meetings that will take place from 15 to 21 April, Governor Ismaili will present priorities for the financial sector pursuant to objectives and Strategic Plan of the CBK, update regarding implementation of programs and professional technical assistance, including new needs for professional support.

In the margins of the official visit to the USA, the CBK representatives will have bilateral meetings with the heads of the US Treasury Department, the Federal Bank of New York – FED (American Central Bank), as well as with counterparts from partner central banks.

During the participation in the 2024 Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank, Governor Ismaili will meet with the Deputy Managing Director of the IMF, Mr. Bo Li, the Director of the European Department of the IMF, Mr. Kammer, the Vice President of the World Bank for Europe and Central Asia, Mrs. Bassani, the Vice President of the WB and Director of the Treasury, Mr. Familiar, the Executive Directors of the IMF and WB Constituencies, Mr. Palotai and Mr. Demircan.

The CBK delegation will also have meetings with leaders and senior officials of financial institutions for cooperation in areas of interest.

Previously, in the Boston, USA, the CBK Governor had meetings with leaders of Harvard University, including the Dean of Harvard Kennedy School, Dr. Elmendorft and eminent professors who have served in important government positions, such as chief economists, heads of the Treasury Department, members of the Federal Reserve Board (FED Board), Economic Advisors in the White House.

Governor Ismaili concluded the visit to the University by giving a lecture in front of students and the public at the Harvard campus, with the topic “Overcoming the challenges of the financial system: The case of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo”.
