The specific indicators that characterized the banking sector during this period were:
Assets of commercial banks, in August 2023, recorded an increase of about 148.8 million euros compared to the previous month. In August 2023, the value of assets of commercial banks was 7.09 billion euros.
Investments of commercial banks abroad (in the form of deposits, securities and other placements) recorded an increase of about 155 million euros compared to the previous month.
Customer deposits, in August 2023, recorded an increase of about 161.6 million euros compared to the previous month. The value of deposits, in August 2023, reached 5.83 billion euros. About 25% of deposits are time deposits. Households dominate with about 66.5% of total deposits (or about 3.88 billion euros).
Value of new deposits, in August, was 139.9 million (in July it was 105.4 million).
Average interest rate on deposits, in August, was 2.52% (in July it was 2.69%).
Gross loan value, at the end of August 2023, was 4,729.6 million euros, which represents a decrease of 19.4 million euros compared to the previous month.
Value of new loans, in August, was 170.7 million (in July it was 166.9 million).
Loan interest rate, in August, was 6.70% (in July it was 6.60%).
Loan-deposit ratio, in August, was 81.0%.
Total capital of commercial banks, at the end of August 2023, was 811.8 million euros, which is 13.65 million euros higher.
