A senior delegation of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo is participating in the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank

A senior delegation of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo, led by Governor Ahmet Ismaili, accompanied by the Chairman of the Board, Bashkim Nurboja, and the Acting Director of Banking Supervision, Blerim Terziqi, is participating in the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB), which are taking place in Marrakesh, Morocco.

The delegation led by Governor Ismaili will have meetings with senior officials of the IMF and the World Bank, as they will discuss economic and financial developments during 2023 as well as expectations for 2024 and beyond.

In these meetings, Governor Ismaili will present his priorities for the financial sector and will seek the support of these two institutions to implement them. These priorities aim to further strengthen the capacities and systems of the CBK, as a prerequisite for a financial sector that is sound and supportive of the private sector and households.

During his stay in Marrakesh, Governor Ismaili will sign with the World Bank the agreement for CBK’s membership in the World Bank Treasury program called “Reserve Advisory & Management Partnership” (RAMP).

RAMP is a program that deals with human capital and provides services for managing assets and reserves, with participants being a large number of central banks from around the world.

Governor Ismaili will also participate in the Plenary Session where the Managing Director of the IMF, Kristalina Georgieva, and the President of the World Bank, Ajay Banga, will address the governors of central banks and ministers of finance from all over the world. This forum will discuss issues related to world challenges and the coordinated actions needed to address them.

The meetings that will take place until 14 October, bring together central bankers, finance and economy ministers, parliamentarians, private sector executives, representatives from civil society organizations and academics to discuss issues of global concern, such as economic perspective, poverty eradication and economic development.
