In the framework of the regular annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, the Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr.Fehmi Mehmeti, met with Mr. Alfred Kammer, Director of the Department for Europe at the IMF.

In this meeting, Governor Mehmeti presented the views of the CBK on macroeconomic on macroeconomic and financial developments in Kosovo, emphasizing in particular the high stability that the country’s financial system is enjoying and its role in supporting the country’s economic recovery. (Edi

Also, Governor Mehmeti reiterated the urgent need to fill vacancies on the CBK Board as a necessity for the normal functioning of this institution.

On the other hand, Mr. Kammer praised the positive developments in the country’s financial system and the very important role played by the CBK and the financial system in dealing with the country’s economy with the consequences caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

He also called for the functioning of the CBK Board as soon as possible and stressed the need to preserve the independence of the Central Bank so that political interference does not impede the effective exercise of the function of this very important institution of the country.
