The Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Fehmi Mehmeti, was received in a meeting by the Head of the European Union Office / European Union (EU) Special Representative in Kosovo, Mr. Tomáš SZUNYOG.

In this meeting was discussed about the latest macroeconomic developments, especially in the financial sector.

Governor Mehmeti informed the Head of the EU Office about the actions taken by the CBK in developing and maintaining the stability of the financial system, as well as the regular activities in the field of integration, developed jointly with the EU institutions. .

Governor Mehmeti also stressed the prudent measures taken by the CBK in cooperation with financial institutions operating in Kosovo, which have been shown to be very effective in maintaining financial stability and minimizing the consequences for the country’s economy in general.

As a result of these measures, the expected risks to the banking sector did not materialize and the banking sector managed to maintain a high degree of stability and played a very important role in the recovery of the economy through continuous lending and the provision of mitigation measures to borrowers.

Among other things, the Governor informed Mr. SZUNYOG for the measures taken in the insurance sector, including the advancement of the regulatory and supervisory framework, to the most extreme measures of revocation of licenses for companies, which have ultimately failed to meet the legal and regulatory requirements in force.

At the same time, the Governor thanked the European Union for the continuous support it has given to Kosovo and the CBK.
