The delegation of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK), headed by the governor Mr. Ahmet Ismaili, held a meeting in Washington D.C. with senior representatives of the financial institution EuroClear, Mr. Ferreira – General Manager for Global Institutions and Mr. Pizzamiglio – Senior Global Capital Markets and Funds Officer.

During this meeting, Governor Ismaili presented the financial sector of Kosovo, the legal and regulatory framework in force, as well as the management of international reserves and investments. He also informed about the network of central banks with which CBK cooperates in this regard.

At this meeting, the possibilities of cooperation on the relevant account for the holding and settlement of international securities, money market operations, including repo contracts (REPO) for liquidity and other services were discussed. Also, the possibility of facilitating the transfer and safekeeping of international securities as collateral in case of emergency financing was discussed.

Consideration of these options represents a necessary step in the improvement of the supporting infrastructure, after consideration of the relevant policies related to the management of reserves and the support of the sector with the necessary liquidity whenever necessary.
