The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK), as part of its commitments to financial education and in accordance with the Strategic Plan 2024-2028 for financial inclusion, has implemented the campaign “Economy for All – Financial Accessibility Awareness Week For Persons with Dissabilities“.

The campaign was organized in cooperation with the Kosovo Disability Forum, the Kosovo Banking Association and with financial support from the European Fund for South East Europe (EFSE).

The Campaign launch was held in Prishtina, where it was emphasized that financial inclusion remains one of the main objectives of the CBK, with a particular focus on consumer protection, financial education and equal access to financial products and services.

Participants were informed about concrete initiatives, such as the implementation of the Basic Services Account, which is offered free of charge to vulnerable consumers, including people with disabilities. The establishment of the Sign Language Education Corner was also presented, which contains informative and educational materials in audio-visual format and sign language. This corner will be continuously enriched with additional content and materials for financial education.

The campaign continued with information and educational activities for people with disabilities in Gjilan, Gjakova, Prizren and Peja. In addition to presentations and audio-visual materials, financial education books prepared in Braille were also distributed to participants. The high participation of citizens with disabilities and their contribution with ideas, suggestions and comments on the challenges and opportunities in financial access led to the campaign being assessed as necessary and relevant.

Representatives of the Kosovo Disability Forum described this initiative as the first example of its kind in the region and beyond, considering it an important step towards improving financial access for this category.

The CBK remains committed to advancing comprehensive financial education and consumer protection through the adaptation of information materials, the improvement of the regulatory framework and the development of digital services. By integrating the protection of vulnerable consumers into the supervision of market conduct, the CBK ensures equal access, clear information and the avoidance of any form of discrimination.

The CBK expresses its commitment to aligning the regulatory and supervisory framework with European Union standards, considering financial inclusion as an essential prerequisite for sustainable financial and economic development, in line with European best practices.
