The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK), in the course of its financial education activities, welcomed a group of students from the University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina”, namely from the Faculty of Mathematical and Natural Sciences (FMNS) – Banking, Finance and Insurance programme, as well as from the Faculty of Economics – Economics programme.

During the visit, CBK officers from several departments, including Banking Supervision, Insurance and Pension Supervision, Financial, Microfinance and Non-Bank Financial Institutions Supervision, as well as the Department of Public Relations and Financial Education, delivered a comprehensive lecture on the role, mandate and importance of the CBK in the country’s financial system.

The topics discussed during this session included the role of the CBK in maintaining financial stability, the functions and legal mandate of the institution, the structure and functioning of the banking system in Kosovo, the insurance sector and pension field, supervision and regulation of financial markets, as well as the process of licensing, regulation and supervision of financial institutions in the country.

Students expressed particular interest in the latest developments in modern banking in Kosovo, supervision processes, and the functioning of financial markets, as well as opportunities to participate in the Student Internship Programme, which the CBK organizes every year.

On this occasion, the students were also informed of the “Young Economist” Award, the content of the competition topics, and the application procedure.

The participating students thanked the CBK for the opportunity to hold this discussion, which contributed to deepening their knowledge about the CBK and the financial industry in general.

The CBK remains committed and open to cooperation with faculties in the country through lectures, educational materials, internship programmes and research initiatives.
