The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK), with the aim of promoting scientific research, invites all young researchers to apply with their scientific work for the CBK Award to Young Economists. Through this call, the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo announces the following:

RESEARCH PAPER COMPETITION
on topics:

  • “The Role of Artificial Intelligence in the Financial Sector in Kosovo – Its Impact on Advancing Financial Services and Risk Management”.
  • “New Risks of Financial Fraud and International Aspects of Anti-Money Laundering (AML)”.
  • “Transition to a Green Economy: The Role of the Central Bank in Sustainable Financing and the Application of CSR and ESG to the Financial Sector”.
  • “Evolution of Financial Markets: Implications on Productivity, Financial Stability and Capital Flows”.
  • “The Impact of Remittances on the Kosovo Economy: Opportunities for Their Orientation in a Productive Sector”.
  • “Protecting Consumers Against Fraud in Digital Finance: Challenges and Solutions in the Context of Online Security”.

Kriteret e përmbajtjes së punimit

  • Punimi duhet të trajtojë njërën nga temat e lartcekura ekonomike dhe financiare që lidhen me Kosovën dhe kontekstin rajonal e global.
  • Punimi duhet t’i plotësojë kriteret e një pune shkencore dhe mund të jetë në formën e ngjashme të një teme të diplomës Bachelor, pjesë nga tema e  diplomës pasuniversitare (Master) apo pjesë nga  tema e  doktoratës (Ph.D);
  • Punimi duhet të jetë i shkruar në gjuhën shqipe apo serbe, por secili version duhet të jetë edhe në gjuhën angleze sepse do të bëhet verifikimi i standardeve etike për plagjiaturë.
  • Punimi nuk duhet të jetë më gjatë se sa 8500 fjalë:
  • Rregullat dhe standardet e citimeve të referencave duke përdorur manualin e publikimeve APA (Edicioni 7), Chicago, Harvard apo edhe çdo model tjetër.
  • Përmbledhja ekzekutive nuk duhet të jetë më e gjatë se një faqe dhe lista e të gjitha referencave duhet t’i bashkëngjitet punimit.
  • Punimi kërkohet të jetë në versionin M.S Word lloji i shkrimit duhet të jetë Times New Roman, madhësia 12 me hapësirë 1,5.
  • Sistemi i citimit  të referencave preferohet të përdoren programet softverike: Mendelay (Mendeley – Reference Management Software), Endonte (EndNote – The Best Citation & Reference Management Tool)  apo edhe Zotero (Zotero | Your personal research assistant).

Paper content criteria

  • The paper must address one of the above-mentioned economic and financial topics related to Kosovo and the regional and global context.
  • The paper must meet the criteria of a scientific paper and can be in the form of a Bachelor’s thesis, part of a postgraduate diploma thesis (Master’s) or part of a doctoral thesis (Ph.D.);
  • The paper must be written in Albanian or Serbian, but each version must also be in English because ethical standards for plagiarism will be verified.
  • The paper must not be longer than 8500 words:
  • Rules and standards for citing references using the APA publication manual (7th Edition), Chicago, Harvard or any other model.
  • The executive summary must not be longer than one page and the list of all references must be attached to the paper.
  • The paper is required to be in the M.S Word version, the font type must be Times New Roman, size 12 with 1.5 spacing.
  • Reference citation system, preferably using the software programs: Mendelay (Mendeley – Reference Management Software), Endonte (EndNote – The Best Citation & Reference Management Tool) or Zotero (Zotero | Your personal research assistant).

Criteria for selecting the paper by the evaluation committee at the CBK

  • The evaluation committee, composed of CBK staff, will select five of the best papers, which will be granted the CBK award, using general criteria, such as:
  • Quality of scientific research or synthesis,
  • Quality of writing,
  • Accurate identification with footnotes and references of the research/writings of the authors included in the paper,
  • Relevance and scientific contribution to promoting or changing policies,
  • Correct citation of the literature used, as well as support with references of the findings throughout the paper,
  • Good ordering and clear chronology of the paper,
  • Connection of conclusions and recommendations with the research findings.
  • Without prejudice to the previous point, the final decision on the number of awards depends on the quality of the submitted papers and will be made in the end by the evaluation committee, therefore, the quality of the scientific papers submitted determines the number of awards granted. The CBK reserves the right to reduce the number of awards or cancel the award ceremony altogether, depending on the quality of the papers received.
  • Previous award winners, current and former employees (in the last three years) of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo, cannot apply to this competition.
  • Papers that do not comply with the rules of ethics or that are prepared through Artificial Intelligence platforms will be rejected and processed according to the legal practices in force, notifying the relevant universities accordingly.

Application criteria

  •  Candidates must be Kosovo students studying in Kosovo or outside Kosovo.
  • The candidate may be an individual author or main author, or may have co-authors of the paper;
  • The papers of candidates who bring other topics that are not relevant to the topics specified in this competition will not be taken into account;
  • The candidate must be a Bachelor, Master or Doctorate student.
  • The paper cannot be a paper previously published in scientific journals.

Application procedure

Interested students can apply:

  • By submitting their papers in electronic version (PDF) to [email protected], or a hard copy sent to the following address: Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK), Attn. CBK Award to Young Economists, Garibaldi 33, 10000 Prishtina, Republic of Kosovo.
  • Your biography for reference.
  • The name of the thesis supervisor and the relevant university/faculty, which applies in the case when students collaborate with their professors throughout the paper.
  • A copy of the ID card and contact details, such as: e-mail address, telephone number and postal address of residence.
  • Evidence confirming the level of Bachelor, Master or Doctorate studies in Kosovo.
  • After analysing the received papers, only candidates whose papers will be selected by the evaluation committee will be notified.

Awards

The winners will be granted recognition by the CBK for their contribution. The winners will be awarded as follows:

First award 1600 euros,

Second award 1100 euros

Third award 900 euros

Fourth award 800 euros

Fifth award 600 euros

Deadline for submission of papers

        The deadline for submission of papers is 1 October 2025, 24:00.
