The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK) marked June 1 – International Children’s Day by organizing an educational activity with pupils of Primary and Lower Secondary School (PLSS) “Ismail Qemali” in Prishtina. The educational activity was implemented by the External Relations Department (ERD) officials with two groups of third-grade pupils of the school, in full compliance with the pandemic measures.
The CBK representatives discussed, worked and celebrated with the pupils, mainly by communicating on financial education topics appropriate for their age. Using stories, they explained basic economic-financial concepts such as money history, savings, savings banks, money management, personal budget, savings book, what the CBK is, what banks are and how they work, what expenses are and how financial goals are set at their age.
The activity was interactive and the pupils expressed their curiosity through numerous questions about the above topics. As part of the activity, pupils showed their creativity by working out their personal budget through separation of their savings, expenses and give-away money.
Under its Financial Education Program, the CBK’s persistent aim is to contribute to creating a financial education culture, with particular focus on encouraging children to start learning about proper money management from an early age and helping them gain the knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviors necessary for making the right financial decisions, which will ensure their economic well-being in the future.
