By an invitation of the IFM, the Delegation of the Republic of Kosovo, comprised of: Ahmet Shala, Minister of Economy and Finance, Hashim Rexhepi, Governor of the Central Bank of Kosovo, Driton Qehaja, Adviser to the Prime-minister of Kosovo on economic matters, Hajdar Korbi, Adviser, Emira Ajeti, Adviser, Flamur Mrasori, Chief of the Governor’s Cabinet, on the arrival in Washington, the Delegation was welcomed by the Kosovo Ambassador in US, Mr. Avni Spahiu, who joined the delegation in most of the meetings. Mr. Ahmet Shala, held official meetings with the important personalities, with an aim to gain a support to the request of Kosovo adherence to IMF. During three raking days, prior the beginning of the spring meeting sessions of the IMF, the Kosovo Delegation has attained meetings with the high officials of the International Monetary Fond, World Bank, Amerikan Treasury, State Department, USAID, as well as with the high representatives of the Executive Office to the President of the United States and Mr. Eliot Engel the Congressmen. The Kosovo Delegation, also, took part in a cocktail organized by the Slovenian Embassy in Washington, on the occasion of the IMF/EC/CEF, and visit of the Slovenian Minister of Finance, Mr. Krizanic. Despite proper information on the latest developments regarding the Republic of Kosovo, the above mentioned meetings as an essential focus had the Kosovo adherence in IMF.
During meetings held between the Kosovo Delegation and representatives of the IMF, promises on further continuation of technical assistance of the IMF to Kosovo were given, with an aim of economic development of the country in general and development of the financial sector in particular.
