The Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Bedri Hamza received a high level delegation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), consisting of members of the Board of Directors and senior executives. Governor Hamza thanked the representatives of EBRD for this high level visit in Kosovo and informed them on the CBK’s activity as well as the current status and trends in the financial system and economy of the country. He expressed appreciation for the financial system stability and sustainability of the economic development in Kosovo and addressed a number of related issues addressed by the guests.
In the meeting was highly appreciated EBRD activity in Kosovo, which was destined in offering funds for banks and other beneficiaries in the country, enabling projects tailored to their needs as well as to the specific circumstances of our country. Governor Hamza expressed his consideration to all EBRD projects in Kosovo and, in particular, stressed the importance of the project signed last year regarding the provision of a credit line in the amount of 10 million euros to the Deposit Insurance Fund of Kosovo (DIFK) that had a significant importance in the development of the banking sector.
Governor Hamza also stressed out that as a member of EBRD since the end of 2012, our country expects an increase in EBRD activity in Kosovo and that CBK as a financial authority and promoter of the economic development in the country is ready to give its contribution and cooperate with the EBRD. Among others, in the meeting was expressed the high appreciation for the strategic directions of the EBRD in relation to Kosovo, by agreeing that support to privatization, private sector development, involvement of private sector in infrastructure and energy and mining sector development represent the critical aspects of the overall economic development of the country.
