Governor Gërguri received today at a meeting the World Bank Director for Eastern Europe, Mrs. Jane Armitage and Mr. Jan-Peter Olters, Head of the Office of the World Bank for the Republic of Kosovo.

Besides elaborating on the current situation of the financial sector in the country which was valued as stable and sound, Governor Gërguri highlighted the strong support of the World Bank in the up to date development of CBK, financial sector and other sectors and institutions in our country. In particular, Governor Gërguri highlighted the World Bank support in the operation of the Deposit Insurance Fund of Kosovo, then the support given in advancing the payment system in terms of legislation (drafting the Law on the payment system) and in terms of work continuity and automation of payment system (Real Time Gross Settlement Project). The meeting also discussed CBK’s preparations on Kosovo Financial Stability Assessment Program, which, will be conducted for the first time by experts of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund in September of this year. At this meeting is also confirmed the World Bank readiness for additional technical assistance to CBK in further strengthening bank supervision, consumers protection and financial education sectors.
