The Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo, Fehmi Mehmeti, had a conversation with the students attending the 19th edition of Prishtina International Summer University on the role of the CBK in view of the country's economic development and the functioning of the financial sector.

On this occasion, Governor Mehmeti stressed that Kosovo has a stable financial system that is increasingly playing its important role in supporting the economic development of the country, and that the banking sector, as a major component of the financial system in the country, is characterized by the continuous growth of development in all of its indicators.

"Thanks to its stability, this sector is increasingly more attractive to foreign investors. The financial stability we enjoy today is the result of rigorous policies of licensing in the first place and then also of overseeing and regulating financial institutions operating in our market. All CBK's engagement in this regard is guided by European Union directives and the excellent cooperation we have with the European Central Bank. As a result, the CBK has started implementing the Basel 3 requirements currently being applied in the European Union. Also, there are positive developments in the insurance sector as well as in the sector of non-bank financial and microfinance institutions", said Governor Mehmeti.

On the other hand, Prishtina International Summer University heads and students asked various questions about the functioning of the financial sector in Kosovo and thanked Governor Mehmeti for the conversation.
