In Pristina is being held the first regional conference entitled "Initiative for the implementation of the second pillar of the Basel regulatory framework: ICAAP / SREP Introduction and practical examples" organized by the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo in cooperation with the German Organization for International Cooperation (GIZ) on behalf of the Federal Ministry of the Republic of Germany for Economic Cooperation and Development - Office in Prishtina.
This conference is being held in the framework of the CBK project for the implementation of the Basel framework for banking supervision, supported by GIZ. These standards were prepared by the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision within the Bank for International Settlements, Switzerland, which aims to create unified international standards for banking supervision.
In the frame of this project, the CBK is working on alignment of the regulatory framework of banking supervision with best International standards and practices and EU legislation.
The greatest thing is the fact that this conference brought together the most eminent representatives and professionals from the well-known international institutions, among them representatives of the German Embassy and the US Embassy. During the three-day conference, lecturers who will present their work are representatives of European Central Bank (ECB), the German Central Bank (Deutsche Bundesbank), the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority - BaFin and Bank of Slovenia.
Amongst the invitees are representatives from the private sector who during the proceedings of the Conference will present their practices, as well as representatives of parent banks and subsidiaries of foreign banks operating in Kosovo. Speakers of the morning session were the CBK Governor Bedri Hamza, Her Excellency Ms. Angelika Viets, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in the Republic of Kosovo and Mr. James Macbeth, Director of the GIZ Office in Kosovo.
