The Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Fehmi Mehmeti, hosted today in a meeting the Deputy Director of the World Bank, Mr. Diego Martinez, and the Senior Financial Sector Officer in charge of Kosovo's portfolio, Mr. Alper Ahmet Oguz.
On this occasion, Governor Mehmeti congratulated Mr. Alper Ahmet Orguz for his new assignment and assured the readiness of the Central Bank to advancing developmental projects. At the meeting were discussed the positive developments in the banking sector, future challenges and the role of this sector in Kosovo's economic development, as well as current and future World Bank projects to support the financial sector. Governor Mehmeti informed the World Bank officials on the stability of the financial system in the country and appreciated the World Bank for its continued support provided for the development of the financial sector and for the economic development in general. Governor Mehmeti notified the World Bank representatives on the improvements made in access to finance, which is largely as a result of the World Bank assistance and support it has provided to the Kosovo Credit Guarantee Fund. The World Bank representatives thanked Governor Mehmeti for the cooperation, and expressed their readiness to continue with this cooperation also in the future.
