The Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo, Fehmi Mehmeti, hosted in a meeting the Head of the EU Office/EU Special Representative, Tomáš SZUNYOG.
At this meeting it was discussed about the latest developments in the financial sector and the commitment of the CBK to overcome with less economic consequences of the situation created by the pandemic.
Governor Mehmeti informed the Ambassador with the actions taken to liberalize prices in the insurance market, progress achieved in aligning the bank regulatory framework with Basel III framework, also addressed in the latest EU report on Kosovo.
At the same time, the Governor appreciated the European Union for the continuous support given to Kosovo and the CBK, including the period during the pandemic through the Macro - Financial Assistance of the European Union.
On the other hand, Ambassador SZUNYOG highlighted the importance of CBK's work in preserving country financial stability.
At this meeting, both parties expressed the urgent need for the adoption of the Law on Economic Recovery.
Ambassador Tomáš SZUNYOG also urged for the completion of the CBK Board as soon as possible, asking the Kosovo Assembly to complete the process of selecting members as soon as possible.
