The Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo, Fehmi Mehmeti has requested the inclusion of Kosovo as a state, in the prestigious newspaper "The Economist".

In the letter sent to the leaders of this newspaper, Governor Mehmeti emphasized the fact that Kosovo is not presented as a separate state, therefore asked the leaders of "The Economist" that Kosovo be treated equally with other countries in the relevant sections of the newspaper.

"The Republic of Kosovo declared independence on 17 February 2008, and since then has been recognized by 117 countries. Among the countries that have given the main contribution to the independence of Kosovo is the United Kingdom, which was among the first countries to recognize the independence of our country. Furthermore, Kosovo is a full member of the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, as well as other international financial institutions.

This newspaper is an important source of analysis on international business and world affairs, where special attention has been paid to the region of Southeast Europe, which includes the Republic of Kosovo. Kosovo institutions compile credible economic and financial data, in full compliance with relevant international standards. We would be very happy to be at your disposal to provide you with all the necessary assistance for faster access to all the data you may need about the economy and financial system of Kosovo", wrote Governor Mehmeti in a letter to the management of the prestigious newspaper "The Economist".
