Governor Gani Gërguri with his associates hosted today a delegation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), headed by Mr. Jean-Marc Peterschmitt, Managing Director for Central and South Eastern Europe.
On this occasion, Mr. Peterschmitt informed Governor Gërguri on activities related to the development of the EBRD three-year strategy for Kosovo and about the the areas the EBRD intends to expand its activities in Kosovo. Among the most important areas where the EBRD is expected to engage in Kosovo are the financial sector, energy and infrastructure.
On the other hand, Governor Gërguri thanked EBRD delegation for the visit and wished for a fruitful cooperation between Kosovo and the institution following full membership of the Republic of Kosovo in this institution recently. Among other, Governor Gërguri presented an overview of economic developments and in particular of the financial sector, underlining the high level of stability of the financial sector and the contribution of this sector to the economy. The Governor invited the EBRD for a more comprehensive involvement in the Kosovo economy with special emphasis on providing opportunities for greater access to finances for less bankarised sectors of our country economy.
