EFSE Delegation submits to the Governor Gerguri the Study on over-indebtedness of small borrowers in Kosovo

Governor Gerguri met the Managing Director of the European Fund for Southeast Europe - EFSE, Mrs Sylvia Wisniwski, who submitted to the Governor a copy of the study on the extent of the over-indebtedness of small borrowers in Kosovo. Initially, Mrs Wisniwski elaborated on the goals of this study - the measurement of over-indebtedness, on the offer and demand factors which lead towards over-indebtedness and protection measures from eventual over-indebtedness of small borrowers. Subsequently, she noticed  that most of the findings in this study are quite encouraging, such as the number of contracts, number of loans for one borrower, solid concentration of guarantors, the percentage of over-indebtedness,  etc. In particular, she emphasized the positive role of the Credit Registry of Kosovo.
By thanking the EFSE contribution in the development of financial sector in general, the Governor Gerguri emphasized the importance of this study to further enrich the profile of early warning system prepared by the CBK on a regular basis.
Otherwise, Kosovo is the second country, after Bosnia and Herzegovina, where was conducted such a study. The study will be presented this month to the Association of Microfinance Institutions of Kosovo, Kosovo Banks Association and other actors that have designed it.
