The CBK Governor, Fehmi Mehmeti, during the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank, being held in Washington DC, United States, had meetings with senior officials and representatives of the US Treasury Department, the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and counterparts from different countries of the region and wider .
Among the numerous meetings, the CBK Governor, Mr. Fehmi Mehmeti, met with the US Treasury Associate Director for Banking & Financial Services, Mr. Paul Leonovich and his team.
At this meeting, Governor Mehmeti informed Mr. Leonovich on the recent developments in the financial system of the Republic of Kosovo and financial soundness indicators.
Governor Mehmeti thanked the USA for the contribution given in building Kosovo institutions and expressed gratitude for the great contribution the US Treasury has provided for the capacity building of the CBK.
During the meeting there were discussed the activities the CBK has undertaken in maintaining financial stability and a further steps to be taken for strengthening of the financial system's role in supporting Kosovo's economic development.
Mr. Leonovich thanked Governor Mehmeti for the long-standing cooperation of the US Treasury with Kosovo and expressed readiness to support Kosovo's further development.
In the range of these meetings, Governor Mehmeti met also the IMF Deputy Managing Director, Mr. Tao Zhang whom he briefed on the overall developments in the financial system and thanked him for the ongoing IMF support to the CBK over the years.
Mr. Zhang congratulated Mr. Mehmeti on his appointment as the CBK Governor.
Governor Mehmeti also had meetings with the Mr. Paul Thomsen, Director of the IMF's European Department, Ms. Michaela Erbenova, the Executive Director of the Kosovo Constituency, the IMF Mission for Kosovo and the MCM (Monetary Capital Market) representatives, headed by Mr. Paul Mathieu.
In addition to the above-mentioned meetings, Governor Mehmeti also met Mr. Cyril Muller, the World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia and Mr. Franc Godts, Executive Director for our Constituency at the WBG. Governor Mehmeti attended the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund constituencies meetings, part of which is the Republic of Kosovo. In all meetings, the CBK's work in securing a stable financial system and serving the country's economic development was highly appreciated and the IMF expressed the readiness to support further development of the CBK.
