On March 27, 2008 the Special Representative of the Secretary General, Mr. Joachim Rücker appointed Mr. Rexhepi as Managing Director of the Central Banking Authority of Kosovo for a five years mandate.

This appointment follows the nomination of Mr. Rexhepi by the Government in its meeting held on February 27, 2008, and then the approval of this nomination by the Assembly on March 14, 2008. This nomination is in line with the requirements of UNMIK Regulation No. 2006/47 (article 18.2(a)).

Prior to his new appointment, Mr. Rexhepi held respectively in the CBAK the positions of Deputy Managing Director for Financial Supervision, Chief Supervision Officer and Director for Insurance Supervision.

As for Michel Svetchine, he returns to the Banque de France after three years and three months as Managing Director of the Banking and Payments Authority of Kosovo (BPK) and then the CBAK.

On the occasion of a hand over ceremony that took place on March 27, 2008, the CBAK Governing Board as well as its Management and its staff members have expressed their gratitude towards Mr. Svetchine for the achievements made during his mandate. 

The appointment of Mr. Rexhepi as Managing Director of the CBAK completes the Kosovarization process of this Institution.
