The Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Fehmi Mehmeti, on April 10, 2018 hosted in the meeting the representatives of the Albanian Diaspora Business Network seated in USA, headed by President Mr. Nazar Mehmeti, Secretary General, Mr. Ismet Smajli and Director Mr. Naim Dedushaj. Governor Mehmeti thanked the delegation of the Albanian Business Diaspora Network in the US for their interest in the financial system in Kosovo and informed them on recent developments in the financial sector in the Republic of Kosovo and financial soundness indicators. In addition, Governor Mehmeti stressed the great contribution that the Albanian diaspora has given in the past and is still giving to Kosovo's economic development, including the great need for transformation of Diaspora’s revenues from consumption to investment that would directly contribute to economic development of Kosovo. During the meeting, they discussed the possibility of investing in the banking sector of the Republic of Kosovo, where representatives of the US Diaspora Business Network expressed their willingness to start the procedures for opening the diaspora bank in Kosovo. Governor Mehmeti welcomed such an initiative and briefed representatives of the Albanian Diaspora Business Network on CBK's legal requirements for bank licensing.
